In these settings a comprehensive programme of day activities and supports are provided which are in line with needs and wishes identified through individual person centred plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><u>Day services based at Carriglea (campus):<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Activation, Sunrise House, Saoirse and Shepherds Wood Lodge day service locations a variety of life skills programmes, personal development training and relaxation therapies are available to those with high support requirements and those who are in retirement or semi-retirement. Participants attend activities for varying lengths of time, depending on their wishes and ability to participate.\u00a0\u00a0 Although the base for these day services is on Carriglea campus, activities take place in community settings as much as possible. Community based activities include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Outings to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping trips, public library, garden centres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Facilitating hairdresser\/beautician appointments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Celebrating service users\u2019 birthdays with parties.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Individual trips of service users\u2019 choice e.g. to open farms, to visit family members, the cinema, fashion shows, local festivals or any other event of their choice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Community based dance classes, yoga classes, pottery\/ceramics classes, horse-riding\/horse grooming, and fishing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Visiting senior citizens in the local hospital.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fund-raising for the local Lions Club by carol singing in the Shopping Centre at Christmas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In addition other initiatives include;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People currently participate in a \u2018Knit &amp; Natter\u2019 group in Dungarvan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People participate in an integrated project with the Cappoquin Active Early Retirement 3 or 4 times yearly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People participate in Waterford Sports Partnership \u2018Go for Life\u2019 games programme for over 50\u2019s. There are further plans to extend this to integrated walks and mainstream lawn bowls in Abbeyside.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People participate in a monthly integrated sports day run by Waterford Sports Partnership.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People participate in a weekly Active Older Ladies fitness class in the Park Hotel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People attend Dungarvan Day Care Centre for senior citizens on a weekly basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In addition to integrated activities in the community, Carriglea C\u00e1irde Services provides the following activities within its own services. This is important to meet the needs of those who find it difficult to travel or to avail of mainstream services.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sports and recreation facilities include access the service\u2019s recreation hall, swimming pool, multi-sensory room and waterbed relaxation facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Exchange sports days with other service providers including Cope Foundation, Brothers of Charity, St. Raphael\u2019s (Youghal) and St. John\u2019s School.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Special Olympics including motor activity events for those with significant support needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Weekly drama classes which culminate with drama\/concert performances twice yearly when family and friends are invited to attend and share in the fun.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pet therapy\/fun drums\/ANAM sessions\/Soundbeam therapy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cookery\/healthy eating\/Independent Living classes\/money management.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gardening\/nature walks\/flower arranging.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Art and crafts \u2013 participation in the competition for the cover of the NIDD annual report.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Visits to the on-site coffee shop and the onsite hairdressing salon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Themed parties to celebrate events e.g. Halloween, Christmas, Easter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Computer classes\/Exercise classes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Photography\/photography exhibitions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pastoral care\/ religious services\/participation in the church choir.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Protection and Welfare training.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Increasingly, staff in day services support service users to attend clinics and medical out-patient appointments<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A number of community based houses offer retirement options to residents who no longer wish to participate in a full day programme in day service locations outside of their home.
